Pentland selects new charity partners

Pentland Brands has announced new partnerships with five charities. It will support these organisations until 2021.

The company said the partnerships will fulfil two goals: supporting women from disadvantaged backgrounds to reach their potential, and inspiring young people in the UK to be more active.

The five new partners are:

Emerging Leaders, which delivers leadership training activities. Pentland will introduce this programme to workers in two factories in Cambodia;
The British Council, which supports economic empowerment through educational opportunities. Pentland will support the development of online learning resources, with a focus on helping women in Thailand access the craft sector;
United Purpose, which aims to end poverty and inequality across the world. This includes using sport to teach employability skills to young people in Mumbai;
Panathlon, which provides sporting opportunities to young people with disabilities. Pentland will help this company expand its swim programme;
SportInspired, which tackles childhood obesity in disadvantaged communities through sports programmes. Pentland will support events in four UK locations.

“We’re taking a strategic approach to our charity partnerships, supporting causes that really resonate with who we are as a company and have an impact in the countries where we operate,” said Zoe Cokeliss Barsley, Pentland’s interim head of corporate responsibility. “We’ve set ourselves some challenging goals for the next three years but we’re confident that together we’ll be able to make a difference”.
