ASICS says restructuring lies ahead after sales decline

Athletic shoe and apparel brand ASICS achieved revenue of $2.6 billion in the first nine months of 2018. This figure represents a decline of 4.7% compared to the same period in 2017. Operating income on this figure, $135.2 million, was down by 37.1%.

In response, ASICS said it recognises the need for restructuring.

Sales were down by 2.6% in its home market, Japan, and by 17.8% in the Americas. In Europe, sales revenues were up by 0.6%, but there was better growth in East Asia, 6.2%.
