New version of Salomon trail-running shoe offers more grip
Salomon has upgraded its Speedcross trail-running shoe. The latest version, the Speedcross 5, features more grip and what the brand calls “a more dynamic upper set”.

“Trail-runners seek grip, stability and rugged protection from the elements,” Salomon has said, “runners who like to go fast on and off trails in tough conditions like mud and wet terrain.”

It said the Speedcross 5 will fulfil the requirements of these runners and those of outdoor enthusiasts who want the performance of a running shoe with low-to-the-ground manoeuvrability and grip.

The sole of the Speedcross 5 has larger, “more aggressive” lugs with more space between them, delivering better push-off grip and braking grip in all surface conditions, Salomon has claimed.

At the same time, the heel unit of the shoe creates a cradle for the heel and helps runners achieve a clean foot-strike and stability through the stride.
