Of these new roles, 11 will be based at the headquarters of parent group Pentland Brands in Sunderland, in North East England. The other three positions will be for its footwear division at Pentland’s global HQ in London.
The product and innovation team will be led by a head of category and a head of design. The latter of these roles will be filled by long-time Berghaus team member James Hodgson, while the brand is inviting applications for the former position.
Mr Hodgson will work closely with the new hire to lead the teams responsible for delivering the product and innovation developments that Berghaus hopes will secure its growth in the coming years.
The brand’s investment in its workforce will include the creation of a new ‘Sprint Team’, which will focus on bringing certain lines to market quicker than through its standard process. It is hoped this will help Berghaus react more quickly to changes in the market and work more effectively with its retail partners.
This team will also look to build on the success of the brand’s Extrem range, which focuses on the specialist outdoor sector, and expand its outdoor lifestyle product offering.
Announcing the creation of these new positions, Kev McFadyen, Berghaus brand director, said: “Berghaus has a truly phenomenal product heritage and this brand has always been a pioneer in our sector. We’re determined to be at the forefront of where outdoor product innovation goes next and this investment demonstrates our commitment to the industry.”
