Wearable sensors project catches Teijin’s eye
19/08/2019
This innovation, called SmartShoulder, consists of wearable sensors that can connect to a smartphone, provide lighting, detect if the wearer is in difficulty and send out emergency alerts.
Teijin has said it wants to “investigate the feasibility of further developing and commercialising SmartShoulder”. It will work with CrossOver, a Dutch consulting and training company, and with Elitac, a start-up company also based in the Netherlands that develops smart textiles and clothing integrated with wearable devices.
It said it believes the project could tie in well with its Total Safety Solution Provider (TSSP) strategy. TSSP is a Teijin initiative to establish a business platform for safety, security and disaster mitigation solutions to enhance work performed in hazardous, high-stress environments by first responders, including firefighters, police, medics and service engineers in certain industries.
