Sole supplier of Welsh leather to speak at women in business event
Hayley Hanson, said to be the only supplier of Welsh leather and hide across the UK and internationally, has been announced as a speaker for the annual Torfaen Women in Business event in Cwmbran, Wales.
Ms Hanson (pictured) designs and makes the collection of leather bags and other leathergoods with leather from her own farm in Breconshire or from neighbours and friends in the local area. She will be interviewed about how she developed her business, challenges along the way, ethos of sustainability and her future focus.
Established in 2011, the company says it operates on two key philosophies: being "better rather than bigger" and "grow where you’re planted". Ms Hanson is a 5th generation, and first female, farmer on her family’s land in Llandefalle, Breconshire.
Women from across the south east Wales region are expected to attend the event. Held 23 October, this is the seventh annual Torfaen Women in Business, which celebrates women’s contribution to the business community.
Kelly Davies, who was a weapons engineer for 12 years in the Royal Navy while running her own beauty business and who is currently a lecturer in engineering at Crosskeys College, will also speak at the event.
