Texon joins Sustainable Apparel Coalition
Materials supplier Texon has joined the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), an alliance dedicated to sustainable production in the apparel, footwear and textile industry.

This places Texon among SAC's more than 240 entities, which include global brands, retailers, and manufacturers, along with government, non-profit environmental organisations, and academic institutions.

According to the company, this membership will enable Texon to build on its work in developing sustainable materials based on recycled fibre content for shoes, clothing, luggage and more, following an operational model that keeps waste to a minimum.

Texon will be able to access and contribute data to the coalition’s Higg Index, a suite of measurement tools that lets companies monitor their sustainability impact by evaluating materials, products, facilities and processes based on environmental performance, social labour practices and product design choices.

“Being a member of this important coalition and using the Higg Index will have a positive impact on our value chain,” said Texon CEO Jelle Tolsma, “giving us a means of accurately measuring and scoring the sustainability of our business and our products.”
