Sustainable and inclusive brand has flexible take on apparel
Entrepreneur Veronica Chou has launched Everybody & Everyone, a brand that takes a pragmatic approach to being accessible and sustainable. Multifunctional and adjustable essential pieces are made with eco-friendly materials and are “sustainable right down to the buttons”.

Sustainable materials come from several sources: the brand partnered with Spanish start-up EcoAlf to create a puffer coat (pictured) from reclaimed ocean plastic bottles and recycled polyester from Profits Fund. Natural and bio-based materials are sourced from Naadam cashmere and wool, GOTS certified organic cotton, and a bio-fibre created from sugar extracted from agricultural waste.

Some products are activated with recycled silver for odour control and antimicrobial properties; they’re also coated with PFOA-free or PFC-free finishes for water-based stain and odour repellency. Denim is finished with a proprietary fluorine-free durable water repellent especially developed for Everybody & Everyone by Candiani Mill in Italy.

But part of the sustainability comes in the physical design of the clothing. Knitwear, t-shirts, denim, and outerwear are intended to be worn many items and in multiple ways, building on the philosophy that multipurpose items allow consumers to buy less and therefore waste less. Pieces are sized and priced to be accessible to more people, with US sizes 00-24 and costing $48-$288.

"After visiting many factories during my career, I came across a lot of instances where I knew the fashion industry could do better; better for garment workers and better for the planet," said Ms Chou. "I started building Everybody & Everyone from the ground-up, ensuring this brand would be for every woman, so body positivity, inclusivity and sustainability were going to be the backbone of everything we did.”

There is also a plan for each garment’s end of use. The brand has partnered with I:CO, a global textile recycler, on a take-back program to extend the life of their garments. Customers will receive a reward voucher that could be used on a future purchase.
