Purchase of Pompea keeps brand "in Italian hands"

Both Italian brands are based in Mantua, known as the country’s hosiery district, and the acquisition helps to “re-establish the central role and leadership of the hosiery district in the European tights and intimate wear market,” according to Fulgar CEO Attilia Casnici. The move will help protect the brand’s “distinctively Italian character,” he said, and benefit the entire area.
Fulgar, which specialises in 6.6 nylon, has a turnover of over 200 million euro and is the European distributor for the LYCRA brand. Pompea, which brings an annual turnover of 70 million euro, owns and handles direct distribution of the feminine lingerie brand “Roberta”.
Alessandro Rodella, owner of Pompea, said international investors had expressed interest in an acquisition, so he was pleased that Fulgar was the buyer. “My family and I have deep roots in the region,” he said, “and so we’re delighted that Pompea is to remain in Italian hands, safeguarding the brand’s future and the jobs of its workforce.”
