Smart loungewear monitors sleep and falls
Japanese startup Xenoma has been awarded a CES 2020 Innovation Award for its e-skin Sleep & Lounge smart apparel, designed to monitor the health and safety of elderly people.

The loungewear’s capabilities fall into two key areas: analysing the wearer’s sleep condition and automatically adjusting the room environment accordingly, as well detecting falls and other unusual behaviours.

The company’s e-skin line extends to other applications, including the e-skin EMStyle, which debuted at CES 2020. The body suit is designed to provide whole-body muscle stimulation for fitness and rehabilitation.

With the suit, according to the company, a full muscle workout can be cut down to 20 minutes of light exercise every second or third day. Whether due to a “lack of time or a lack of constitution”, the company said, the suit offers “an alternative to anyone not up for a regular work-out routine”.
