Italian outdoor brand meets North American market
Debuting in time for the Fall/Winter 2020 season, Italian outdoor apparel brand Montura will be launched to the North American market via Denver’s Outdoor Retailer trade show.

M.T. Imports will be introducing the brand, having already featured Montura in the company’s Valbruna store in Vail, Colorado. Marco Tonazzi, owner and president of M.T. Imports, said that he and Montura’s founder, Roberto Giordani, have been good friends for years. The two recently met up in Italy and agreed the timing was right to bring Montura to the US and Canada.

Established in 1987, Montura has its own manufacturing facility and more than 25 stores across Italy. Collections include apparel for alpine and backcountry skiing, mountaineering, ice climbing, snowsports, running, cycling and watersports, as well as work/safety wear.

Colorado-based MT Imports’ initial focus will be on introducing the outdoor winter snowsports line for the fall/winter 2020 season. The company’s goal, said Mr Tonazzi, is to build a presence with a selected distribution network and strategic retail partnerships.

Mike Stepanek, a 25-year outdoor and snowsports apparel sales veteran, has been appointed North American head of wholesale. “Montura has a long-term history of producing exceptional outdoor apparel that meets the needs of retailers and consumers on every level,” said Mr Stepanek. “The brand’s manufacturing practices, dedication to social and environmental endeavors and ongoing support of art and culture of the mountains are equally impressive.”
