Two sustainability awards for Bergans-Spinnova idea

27/01/2020
Finnish bio-yarn producer Spinnova and outdoor brand Bergans of Norway have won sustainability awards from the organisers of ISPO and from the Scandinvaian Outdoor Group.

Their Collection of Tomorrow collaboration, a fully circular, subscription-based takeback and reuse concept, is the project that secured the awards for the two companies. The collection’s first prototype product, a sustainable backpack, came out at the end of November. The first backpacks were sold to select customers in January.

The future goal of the collaboration is to circulate the same resource, Spinnova fibre, many times over, avoiding the need to use virgin materials. The prototype backpack also includes other materials, all of natural origin; cellulose-based fibre lyocell, lambswool and wood. There are no coating chemicals or plastic or metal accessories in the backpack.
