Spinnova growing team with six appointments

Spinnova, the Finnish bio-yarn manufacturer, will soon scale up its production of wood-based fibres. In preparation, the company has brought on two niche textile experts to help with commercialisation and has made four other appointments to its research and development teams.

Shahriare Mahmood (pictured) is now Spinnova’s sustainability director, focusing on sustainability efforts of partnering brands and related pre-commercial and commercial phase supply chains. His background includes work circularity, material R&D and quality and supply chain management, and he recently earned a PhD in sustainability management.

Eun (Enja) Young Kim has been appointed senior fibre application specialist in the R&D team, to focus on developing the fibre’s quality and finishings. With a background in engineering, she has worked in technical customer service of technical applications Lenzing in Austria.

Ms Kim’s experience in cellulose-based textile fibres will help “ensure that our fibre succeeds in partnering brands’ supply chains and end products”, said CEO and co-founder Janne Poranen.

Spinnova also hired four people for the R&D and laboratory teams, so that the company now has 36 full-time employees.
