Schoeller explains coronavirus strategy in letter

While employees whose jobs don’t require a physical presence have been asked to work from home, those in production will be experiencing a new model.
“In production,” Mr Kath wrote, “we are installing a shift model, which enables a safe and reliable operation, while allowing our production lines to work with as few people as possible. Through organizational measures, we then avoid direct contact between employees with two succeeding shifts during the transfer of tasks.
“For our colleagues on site, the social rules, which are currently so fundamentally important, also strictly apply, in particular, keeping distance from each other and hygiene – at the workstation, in break areas, everywhere.
“The same applies to our shipping & receiving – employees and drivers.
Schoeller management pays close attention to ensure that those fundamental rules are adhered to.”
Mr Kath also said that a number of the company’s employees cross the border from Austria and Germany every day, so they are monitoring relevant travel restrictions.
Employees are to cancel all travel and visitors are not currently accepted at the company’s site until further notice.
Regarding supply chain challenges, Mr Kath wrote, “we have no information that indicates concrete delays or cancellations, hence all should be fine as long as cross-border supplies are upheld.”
Business partners will be informed swiftly if any status should change, he said, though the company asked for understanding as “smaller hiccups in our daily operations” will inevitably arise.
