Running shoe brands benefitting from solo fitness
Bank of America Global Research has found that Google search trends for performance running sneakers are up, suggesting the covid-induced closure of fitness classes and gyms has prompted a surge in solo fitness activities like running.
The analysis showed that searches for Nike were up 104% through May 24. Behind Nike, other running brands to experience increased attention were Brooks (up 83%), HOKA (up 65%) and On Running, which saw a boost of 28%.
In a message to clients, Bank of America wrote that the key beneficiaries in performance running were Nike and Deckers Outdoor (Deckers owns HOKA). It also predicted Dicks Sporting Goods would do well, thanks to its large offering of running brands.
