Elevate brands share resources to produce PPE
Burlington’s Maxima medical fabrics is getting a boost from its sister brand, Cone Denim, as the denim maker transitions a portion of its loom capacity to help Burlington produce PPE. Both Burlington and Cone belong to parent company Elevate Textiles.
Being part of the larger parent company has created opportunities for Elevate’s brands to “collaborate and innovate to better serve apparel brands and others within the textile and apparel industry who are stepping up to produce lifesaving PPE,” says Steve Maggard, president of Cone Denim.
He said the two technical teams have been working closely to transition a portion of looms in Cone’s Yecapixtla operation in Mexico to produce Burlington medical fabrics, with production set to ramp up this month.
Maxima medical fabrics are engineered with yarns and constructions based on specified levels for ANSI/AAMI PB70 & EN13795 standards. The fabric is reusable, which the company said provides more assurance of being available when needed and promotes a more sustainable solution longer-term.
