Start-up opts for HeiQ Viroblock from the off

A start-up company in the UK, 1TcA (One Thought Changes All), has applied HeiQ Viroblock antimicrobial technology to its first collection of products. The collection consists of reusable and recyclable face masks and snoods, manufactured using fabric woven from recycled waste plastic.

The brainchild of three socially and environmentally conscious mothers, Raj Kumari, Laura Wiggins and Satwinder Kalsi, 1TcA said it was aware of the risk of face coverings acting as vectors for viruses and bacteria.

It identified HeiQ Viroblock as one of the first textile finishing technologies to have been successfully tested against the virus that causes covid-19. “The addition of HeiQ Viroblock technology makes the fabric resistant to harmful microbes,” the company said.

The treatment on the face covering will last for up to 30 washes at 30°C and the expected lifespan of the products is approximately one year, after which they can be returned for recycling.
