Isko held its first ever “phygital” I-Skool awards ceremony, recognising winners of a design competition held for students of the programme that is now in its seventh year. For the first time personalised face masks were factored into each design.

The I-Skool educational project began in 2013 and aims to provide hands-on experiences and tools to bridge the gap between education and real-world work experience.

Best Overall Look went to Lee Da Young of South Korea; Best Marketable Product was awarded to Isabel Hambly from the UK; Best Showpiece went to Carolina Viviana Wolf of Germany; Best 5 Pocket Jeans Fit was awarded to Morita Yurika of Japan; and the Isko Vital+ Best Face Cover award went to Yao Ziyu of China.

The Best Overall Media Mention, which is awarded by TextilWirtschaft and Sportswear International, went to Lina Mayorga of the US; and the Cadica Pericolo award was given to Choi of South Korea, Kotryna Adomaityte of the UK, and Seohee Ruby Shin of the US.

According to Isko, twenty shortlisted finalists were asked to “dig into their roots and to approach different cultures, defining and tracking down the geography of the world connecting them through responsibility”. Product life cycle of outfits was also taken into consideration, and competitors used Isko denim fabrics.

Face masks were a new addition to the competition.

“As the current international scenario evolved, during the year, the project had to come to terms with the challenges that came with this new normal,” Isko said, so the designers were asked to create their own face covers to complement their outfits.
