Stretch material transforms cotton linter pre-consumer material

Italian manufacturer Gianni Crespi Foderami has partnered with a Japanese brand of regenerated cellulose fibres from materials manufacturer Asahi Kasei to develop a lining with stretch performance.

The elasticity of Bemberg Natural Stretch is achieved, the company said, with a “complex way of yarn twisting, weaving, and finishing” using yarns that are “smart, responsible and high-tech”.

Asahi Kasei’s Bemberg material, according to the company, is made from the “smart-tech transformation of cotton linter pre-consumer material, converted through a traceable and transparent closed loop process”. Using cotton linter bio-utility material, the naturally-derived source is said to be sustainable, not depleting forest resources.
