Alexander Taylor launching deadstock technical apparel line

In response to seeing substantial textile leftovers during a factory visit, British designer Alexander Taylor is launching a line of technical apparel made from deadstock and sustainable materials.
Called ATID, the line will be sold through a website launching in August. Initial offerings will include limited edition tops made with abrasion resistant Cordura, bags made in waterproof sailing-grade three-layer fabric, long-sleeve tees made in pocket lining mesh, and ultra lightweight shorts made in down-proof woven fabric.
The first “chapter” of this project, Alexander Taylor said in its newsletter, came during a visit to the factory of founding partner KTC Group, which manufacturers outerwear. “We could see first hand the amount of textile leftover and the waste generated by the fashion industry. For this reason we decided to work exclusively with this leftover material and upcycle it to produce our first collection.”
For two years, the brand has worked with KTC “to make the best use of its leftover stock”. The approach has resulted in all limited edition products.
