High time for hemp
Brands looking for alternative natural fibres with good performance characteristics have welcomed an increase in hemp production, according to an extensive feature that we have published in the September-October issue of WSA.
In the article, which is available in full here, technical editor, Sophie Bramel, talks to a wide variety of brands and suppliers who have begun to find hemp’s sustainability, authenticity and aesthetics appealing, often in blends with other fibres such as cotton or Tencel.
Production of hemp fibre is on the increase, with China estimated to produce 100,000 tonnes per year and Europe 30,000.
