US restricts cotton and clothing from Xinjiang

17/09/2020
The US government has restricted imports of clothing and cotton from certain companies in the Xinjiang region of China due to forced labour and human rights concerns.

Among the companies listed are: Xinjiang Junggar Cotton and Linen Co. and its subsidiaries – cotton; Yili Zhuowan Garment Manufacturing– apparel; and Baoding LYSZD Trade and Business – apparel.

The Trump administration is considering a broader ban on products from the region and has warned US companies that importing goods with connections to the region represents a significant risk.

The Outdoor Industry Association is hosting a webinar, “Xinjiang and Forced Labor: Sourcing Risks from China and Beyond” on September 29, at 3pm (EDT).
