Wool knitted fabrics specialist adds cotton to its range

Australian knitted fabric producer ABMT, best known for its wool and wool blends, has added certified organic cotton-based fabrics to its range.

Sales manager, Julian Collins, said on presenting the new fabrics that ABMT had spent years working out how best to apply to cotton the knowledge of organic materials that it has built up.

He said the Melbourne-based company wanted new and existing customers “to feel something they’ve never felt before” with its new cotton range.

The new fabrics are made in Melbourne using cotton from India that is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). ACO, Australia’s largest certifier for organic produce, helps control the process.

ABMT will use its existing partnership with activewear fabrics developer and producer Concept III to bring the new collection to market. One of the benefits of the two partners working together is that customers will have no need to worry about minimum order quantities because Concept III will be able to fulfil smaller and medium-sized orders from stock.
