New Shanghai operations centre for Xtep

08/02/2021

Sportswear group Xtep is to establish a new operations centre in Shanghai. It entered into agreement with a property company on February 5 to acquire a site covering around 11,000 square-metres close to Hongqiao Airport.

Xtep will use the site to set up showrooms and offices. It said it had chosen Shanghai as the location because the city’s status as a major finance and business centre in China would give it access to “top talent”.

It also said the new operations centre would help it increase brand awareness and achieve its aim of becoming a genuinely global enterprise.

At present, Xtep has more than 6,000 stores in 31 Chinese provinces. Recent efforts to increase its international standing include the acquisition of K-Swiss and  Palladium, and an agreement with Wolverine for the joint-running of Saucony and Merrell branded stores in China.
