CNTAC hosts Future Materials sustainability summit
The Office for Social Responsibility of China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) recently hosted the Future Materials summit in Shanghai, the theme of which was “singularity in sustainable fashion”, local media have reported.
Most notably, researchers and representatives from industry-wide institutions, textile development companies and apparel brands all gathered together to jointly launch the Future Materials Lab, an “open and shared” resource for materials technology innovation and ideas incubation.
Delegates from Lenzing, Li-Ning, Ellen MacArthur Foundation, WGSN and others all actively contributed to the launch ceremony, after which a “lively” roundtable discussion on the “puzzle” of sustainable fashion was held.
The Office for Social Responsibility plans to publish a white paper on “sustainable future materials” in 2022, in order to better define the area and to propose an evaluation system and industry roadmap for development.
