Suzhou team develops long-acting antiviral and antibacterial textile
A research team from Soochow University in Suzhou, China, recently developed a new type of long-acting antibacterial and antiviral textile.
The textile, which was found to maintain 99% antiviral and antibacterial resistance after 50 washings by a third-party testing agency, has already gone into industrial production, local media said.
Nanosilver technology was applied via a nanoassembly approach to permeate the fibre with silver ions prior to testing for washing durability.
The textile technology is suitable for cotton, wool, silk, chemical fibres and more, the team stated.
