Swedish wool clothing brand to build new factory

14/04/2021

Outdoor brand Woolpower has announced that it will build a new factory in Östersund in central Sweden to meet growing demand for its wool apparel.

Construction of the new factory will begin immediately. It will cover 100,000 square-metres, twice the size of the existing production facility that the company has in the town, and will come on stream in spring 2022.

Woolpower said on making the announcement that this will be its biggest-ever investment, but it said it remained committed to making its products in Sweden to preserve its values and because of how invested its employees are in the company. For example, sewing-machine operators add their own name to each garment they make and chief executive, Linus Flodin, said this showed a high level of pride in their work and a strong sense of responsibility.

Mr Flodin said that Östersund offered good conditions for entrepreneurship, adding that its forward-thinking spirit and its environmental and sustainable thinking matched Woolpower’s.
The brand makes socks, baselayer and midlayer garments, with merino wool as the main fibre in most products.
