Guangzhou marks exhibition comeback for Texon

28/05/2021

For the first time in more than a year, Texon has decided to put its shoe components technology on display in person at an exhibition, Shoes & Leather Guangzhou, from May 31 to June 2.

It said in the build-up that it would use the event to showcase some of the product innovations it has worked on in the past 12 months, with the emphasis on sustainability.

It has increased the recycled content in some of its components and enhanced the sustainability of the manufacturing processes it uses to make them. In 2020 Texon announced it is aiming for zero waste by 2025.

Key innovations it chose to display included the X8S toe-puff, a reworked version of earlier iterations, but now containing up to 71% recycled content. Another new toe-puff product, Sportflex Eco, uses post-industrial waste and is made from at least 50% sustainably sourced material, Texon said. The business has also launched Sportflex Bio, which is made from a minimum of 50% sustainably sourced material, including sugar-cane waste.

New developments in heel counters, insoles and high-performance materials, such as ProWeave and Texon Vogue, were also part of the offering.
