La Liga to use special ball for highest-profile matches
A month on from announcing the Accelerate, the official football for Spain’s top league competition in season 2021-2022, sports brand Puma has introduced a second option, the Adrenalina.
Puma and competition organiser La Liga have said the Adrenalina will be the ball of choice in the competition’s most high-profile matches, including matches between the competition’s two most successful clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona, and derby games, including the Madrid derby between current champions, Atlético and Real Madrid, and its Catalan equivalent between Barcelona and newly promoted Espanyol. The Adrenalina may also make an appearance in the Seville and Basque derbies.
Colours the new ball uses are a dark yellow base with lemon tones and splashes of blue. Puma said this combination would offer high visibility and “encapsulate the vibrant energy the ball brings to the pitch”.
It has eight large panels, joined together using high-frequency moulding to provide a perfect spherical shape, the company said.
