Inditex brings cotton target forward by two years
Fashion group Inditex has brought forward its plan to use only more sustainable cotton in its clothing.
The parent company of Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti and other fashion brands had set itself the target of using 100% more sustainable cotton by 2025, but it has now said it will achieve this target by 2023.
At an annual general meeting for shareholders at its headquarters near La Coruña on July 13, company president, Pablo Isla, announced that Inditex’s use of more sustainable cotton had reached 91% of its total consumption of the fibre in 2020. He said this gave the group confidence of being able to reach 100% in 2023.
He also announced that Inditex will aim to use 100% renewable energy by 2023 and to cut its water consumption by 25% by 2025.
