Fibre choices enhance Lorpen’s eco credentials

Outdoor sock brand Lorpen is to use the Ecomade version of Coolmax polyester in its spring-summer 2022 collection. It explained that it had made this choice because Ecomade offered the same cooling properties as standard Coolmax but is made by Lycra from 97% recycled material.

Lorpen is also using Unifi’s EcoTherm fibre in the collection, a 50-50 combination of recycled bottle-derived Repreve and Sorbtek, which offers moisture-management and cooling properties.

In addition, it has replaced the standard nylon that it uses to reinforce certain zones on the socks, sometimes in combination with Lycra for better fit, with recycled nylon taken from discarded fishing nets.
