Lycra celebrates Foshan’s Higg score
The Lycra Company’s largest manufacturing site, located in the Chinese city of Foshan, has earned a score in the upper quartile for its Higg Facility Environmental Module (Higg FEM) and Lycra hopes to replicate this across its other manufacturing sites.

Higg FEM determines the Foshan site’s environmental impact, standardises how environmental performance is measured and prioritises improvements.

The verification included a three-day process that required months of preparation according to Choon Hueei Beck, Foshan plant manager.

“Thanks to the hard work and dedication of a cross-functional team in Foshan and other locations, we now have a blueprint to repeat this successful result at other facilities, all of which have completed self-certification,” he said.

The manufacturing site opened in 2005 and products include Gold Level Material Health fibres certified by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.

Higg FEM is part of a suite of tools developed by the non-profit Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
