Collaboration between Lycra and HeiQ will bear first fruits in China

16/07/2021

Textile technology provider HeiQ has announced a new, broad-based collaboration with the Lycra Company. The partners will aim to bring “more innovative, quality-enhancing and sustainable textile technologies to consumers around the world”.

An exploratory discussion about what the two companies might be able to do together began in early 2019. The new announcement means that they will now work to “leverage their shared philosophies and strengths in textile science, commercial networks and global marketing to drive innovation platforms into broad textile markets”.

They envisage consumer-branded innovations in stretch, thermoregulation, freshness and sustainability, they said.

Lycra’s chief brand and innovation officer, Steve Stewart, said the collaboration would enable the two companies to bring innovation to a broader audience at a quicker pace.

Work is already under way on Lycra products enhanced with HeiQ freshness and antiviral functionality, which the two companies intend to introduce for the Chinese market at the Intertextile exhibition in Shanghai at the end of August.
