Unifi releases latest sustainability report
United States-based polymer and yarn specialist Unifi, the maker of Repreve recycled fibre, recently released its latest sustainability report, designed to update readers on the company’s progress during its 2021 fiscal year (which began on June 29, 2020 and ended on June 27, 2021).
Unifi emphasised that it had been able to stay on-target with its sustainability goals over the course of the year, despite the international effects of the covid-19 pandemic.
Among the highlights recorded and singled out by the fibre-producing firm were its continued investments in “emerging mechanisms and technologies”, which it said significantly contributed to its overarching pursuit of increasingly “circular” solutions.
Explicitly, the company expanded its Repreve textile takeback efforts. It also “advanced” unspecified recycling technologies. Further to this, six out of Unifi’s seven owned and operated facilities sent zero waste to landfill, it stated.
The organisation’s senior vice president of technology, innovation and sustainability, Meredith Boyd, commented that Unifi’s commitment to environmental, social and governance responsibility is at the forefront of “everything” it does.
