Danish tannery and footwear group Ecco has launched a leather collection for the sportswear and fashion sectors in response to demand for performance materials.
Motion 2.0 has been designed as garment leathers as they are strong, breathable and flexible.Ecco Group CEO Panos Mytaros said: “Motion 2.0 combines techniques unique to Ecco Leather such as FSDX [the fusing of leather with selected materials] and laundering. This new material is breathable, thermo-regulating, delicate yet strong.”
Ecco confirmed to sportstextiles the two fused leathers have been fused with wool and Polartec material. Ecco Leather has a laundering technique that it can add to the finishing process. Some of the leathers are also washable.
As part of the 14th edition of Hot-Shop - Ecco’s annual three-day workshop - the group challenged Parisian performance artist Kirikoo Des to create a choreography that demonstrated the new technical leather. Ten dancers wore a capsule collection made with Motion 2.0 (pictured) and performed to a soundtrack of Ecco’s tannery.
