UN Global Compact a natural step for Spinnova
Finnish developer of waste-to-fibre technology Spinnova has become a signatory of corporate sustainability initiative the United Nation’s Global Compact.
This initiative, which promotes environmental, social, and economic responsibility, requires commitment to ten principles and calls for action in support of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More than 14,000 companies and 3,000 non-business organisations in 160 countries have already signed up. There are 165 Finnish participants in the Global Compact.
Chief executive and co-founder, Janne Poranen, said Spinnova’s technology for making textile fibres out of wood or waste from leather, textile and food production already supports several of the SDGs.
“Committing to the compact’s principles on a concrete level comes naturally to us,” he added. “It’s an honour to make this pledge and stand alongside the United Nations and the community around it.”
