Adidas and Spinnova reveal commercial 'milestone'
Sports group adidas has presented the Terrex HS1 mid-layer hoodie, the first fruit of its ongoing partnership with renewable textile fibre producer Spinnova after it became a cornerstone investor in the Finnish company eight months ago

Terrex is an adidas brand that specialises in athletic outdoor apparel and shoes. 

A unisex style, this latest product contains a minimum of 25% wood-based, mechanically grinded Spinnova fibre blended with organic cotton, making it mesh well with adidas’ Made with Nature strategy (a term used by the brand for products which have at least in part been manufactured with natural ingredients). 

General manager of adidas Terrex, Carla Murphy, described working with Spinnova as another step towards increased sustainability when it comes to its technical apparel. “Progress is about learning and constantly moving forward - and for adidas this also means partnering to innovate in new areas,” she stated. 

On behalf of Spinnova, co-founder and chief executive, Janne Poranen, commented: “Spinnova is on a mission to transform the raw material base of the global textile industry by providing radically sustainable and high-performance textile materials. Today’s launch is a major milestone on our joint commercial journey.”

The hoodie is due to become commercially available on adidas’ website and in certain retail outlets from July, the brand said.
