Finished garments will help Südwolle tell the story of its yarns
Specialist wool and wool-blend worsted yarn spinner Südwolle has launched a new innovation hub.
It opened the new digital innovation, collaboration, and trends and technologies platform in mid-February, saying it would use it to help inspire its customers by showing them examples of finished garments constructed with Südwolle yarns.
Potential customers will be able to source sample garments from the platform and wear them and test them before investing in new yarns.
“The platform will regularly present key innovations with story-telling, detailed explanations of the benefits for the user and give customers the chance to experience our products in real conditions,” said the group’s managing director for product management and innovation, Stéphane Thouvay.
He made it clear, however, that Südwolle has no intention of becoming an online clothing retailer.
The first garments Südwolle presented on the platform were merino sports garments for men and women knitted with its Omega Twist spinning technology to improve strength, elongation, pilling and abrasion resistance in worsted wool yarns, the group said.
For women, there was a shirt constructed from 55% Coolmax EcoMade and 45% merino wool. A thermal jacket for men was made from 100% merino wool.
