YKK joins Ellen MacArthur Foundation
Fastener technology group YKK has joined circular economy campaign group The Ellen MacArthur Foundation. YKK said the move demonstrated its own commitment to advancing the circular economy.
It explained that it was well aware of the foundation’s work because many of its partner brands across the apparel industry are members. To become a member itself, YKK said, was the logical next step.
Current work that YKK is carrying out to help drive the circular economy includes efforts to develop products that will work in garment recycling systems and with digital product passports.
It said it hoped the foundation’s network would help it connect with leading players and work with them on further new developments and promote circularity.
“We are pleased to be joining an organisation of like-minded companies focused on creating a circular economy,” said YKK’s vice-president for sustainability, Asako Yoshioka.
