Tea culture inspires new Anta range
Chinese sportswear brand Anta has incorporated what it described as a bio-based and “eco-friendly” yarn infused with tea polyphenols in the design of its Millennium 4 sneaker.
According to the brand, the choice of yarn was inspired by traditional Chinese tea culture.
It therefore framed the footwear as “cultural shoes” on social media and additionally pointed to the yarn’s "antibacterial" qualities, adding that it is “packed with tea aroma”.
The shoes’ mixed foaming technology is also carbon neutral, Anta stated.
The sneakers form part of a collection which further extends to a t-shirt made with Tentea, a kind of functional viscose made by local producer Qingdao Bettertex Fiber.
Natural tea extracts in the form of nanoparticles are evenly distributed throughout the fibre using “unique” spinning technology, the developer said, which apparently allows for the wearer’s body to “absorb” what it called Tentea’s “natural health care functions”, such as polyphenols.
