Hot on the heels of P448 collab, Inversa targets invasive ‘dragonfin’
18/07/2022
Founded in 2020, Inversa exclusively makes its leathers from the skin of invasive fish species. It describes itself as a regenerative producer, owing to its “optimised” wastewater and energy consumption, and earlier this summer collaborated on a line of luxury leisurewear trainers with Italian brand P448.
As part of the latter’s Project Sustainability initiative, the trainers featured a lionfish heel tab. The remainder of the shoes’ uppers were crafted from recycled leather and suede, complete with recycled organic cotton laces.
According to Inversa, its use of dragonfin skins will help support up to 150 native fish and endangered freshwater species along the Mississippi River. Invasive lionfish, meanwhile, prey on over 70 marine fish and invertebrate species throughout the Atlantic, it says.
