World Cup kit battle won by Nike

Before a ball is kicked, Nike has emerged as a World Cup winner in 2022.

Football’s most important competition will take place in Qatar in November and December, with 32 national teams vying for the trophy. Nike will supply kit to 13 of them, with adidas supplying seven teams and Puma six.

Last time around, in Russia in 2018, adidas supplied the highest number of participating teams with 12, beating Nike’s 10 at that tournament and Puma’s four.

Nike teams this time will be holders, France, runners-up in 2018, Croatia, hosts, Qatar, Australia, the US, Brazil, England, Portugal, Canada, South Korea, Poland, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands. 

Teams wearing adidas shirts will be Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Spain, Wales, Mexico and Japan, while Puma will have Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, Uruguay, Switzerland and Serbia.

Six sports brands will supply one team each at the 2022 World Cup. Ecuador and Iran will each wear products from brands from their own countries, Marathon and Merooj respectively. Hummel will supply the national team of its home country too, in this case Denmark.

New Balance will be the supplier to the national team of Costa Rica, Kappa to that of Tunisia and Le Coq Sportif to Cameroon’s.
