Polyamide 66 manufacturer Ascend Performance Materials has purchased a majority stake in California-based Circular Polymers, a recycler of post-consumer polymers including polyamide 6 and 66, polypropylene and polyester.

This deal will provide a consistent supply of high-quality, post-consumer recycled materials, Ascend said, which it will use in its ReDefyne polyamides.

Circular Polymers reclaims and processes post-consumer carpet material using proprietary technology. It claims to have redirected almost 40 million kilos of into new products since 2018.

The company will now be renamed ‘Circular Polymers by Ascend’. Founder, David Bender, will retain the rest of the equity and will stay in post as chief executive.
