US-based polyamide producer Ascend has recently launched production of a new series of chemicals, including nylon 6.6 made from used cooking oils. These add to the company’s Bioserve platform, which uses a mass-balance approach certified by ISCC Plus.

The company said that all of its facilities that use biobased, circular and bio-circular materials in the United States carry the certification, which is designed for plant-based solutions and ensures a transparent and deforestation-free supply chain while also covering land management and biodiversity, among other criteria.

“Using the mass-balance approach allows us to meet the growing need for sustainable materials at scale while continuing to offer reliable performance and quality,” commented Alex Mihut, Ascend performance chemicals vice president.
