Sci-Lume Labs is this year’s recipient of the CFDA x Swarovski Foundation Re:Generation Innovation Fund. The company based in Oklahoma City and founded by Oliver Shafaat will receive a $30,000 grant along with six months of mentoring to develop its biobased polyamide Bylon.

Originally called the Re:Generation Innovation Scholar Award, the industry organisation’s innovation award has evolved to become a grant and mentorship programme for early-stage businesses.

Sci-Lume is developing a polyamide yarn from agro-industry waste, which it believes can offer the industry a non-petrochemical drop-in solution.
