ITMF salutes innovators

Ahead of its annual conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) has announced the winners of its textile start-up award.

Two of the four promising start-ups are focusing on recycling textiles into textiles: Re&Up, an initiative launched by Turkish textile group Sanko, and Syre, a Swedish company backed by H&M.

The two other winners are Sci-Lume Labs, based in the USA, which is developing a new non-petrochemical melt-spun synthetic fibre, and Chinese company Sycoretec, which is working on an ultra-thermal insulation known as topological softgel.

The ITMF Annual conference and IAF World Fashion Convention, by invitation only, runs from September 8 to 10.
