Recycled cotton specialist Säntis joins ITMF
Family-owned Swiss textile company Säntis Textiles has formally joined the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF), a forum for the global textile value chain founded in Zurich in 1904, as a corporate member.
Säntis is particularly well-known for its RCO100 technology, developed in 2016, which is capable of spinning 100% recycled cotton yarns from pre-consumer industrial waste, production scrap and post-consumer garments. Last year, it processed 100,000 tonnes of this cotton waste, collected from 100-plus sources in three countries. Though headquartered in Singapore, the firm is also present in China, Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey, Vietnam and Indonesia, in addition to the UK, US and Switzerland.
Past partnerships have resulted in recycled denims, chinos and knits for brands including PVH-owned Tommy Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, all made with RCO100 yarns.
“A [professional] network is precious when it comes to understanding and navigating the complex global textile industry,” commented ITMF director general, Dr Christian Schindler. “ITMF and all ITMF members will benefit from Säntis Textiles’ unique expertise and experience in developing and sourcing textile products around the world."
