Säntis: 'step change' in recycled fibre demand

Swiss textile company Säntis, based in Singapore, recently reported that over 100,000 tonnes of pre- and post-consumer cotton waste was recycled in 2021 due to demand for its 100% recycled cotton fibre, RCO100.

The company, which noted how interest in RCO100 increased rapidly last year, added that the product’s growth had spurred the business on to invest more heavily in the research and development of new 100% recycled cotton variants, including its single jersey Ne20 and Ne30 yarns.

Säntis has previously harnessed its RCO100 technology to provide PVH-owned brands Tommy Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein Jeans with 100% recycled denim, chinos and knits. Its portfolio also now encompasses Lacoste and Mara Hoffman.

Creative director of the family-run Swiss textile enterprise, Annabelle Hutter, commented: “Our figures clearly reveal that the demand and necessity for textile sustainability and circularity is more prominent than ever before - and we’re delighted that our one-of-a-kind RCO100 recycling technology is at the forefront of this step change for the industry.

“We are determined to continue developing technology and fabrics that truly offer sustainable solutions for brands to address the urgent action required for the textile generation of tomorrow.”
