ZymoChem voted start-up of the year by ITMF
ZymoChem, a biotech company based in San Leandro, California, has taken home the International Textile Manufacturers Federation’s (ITMF) 2025 start-up of the year award. Recipients of this prize are invited to present their achievements at the ITMF Annual Conference which will be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, October 23-25, 2025.

ZymoChem was recognised for its Carbon Conserving technology that produces the chemical building blocks for nylon from renewable feedstocks. It is described as a drop-in replacement for petroleum-based polyamide, offering equivalent performance characteristics with reduced carbon emissions. The company is working with Lululemon to bring the novel nylon to market.

On receiving the award, ZymoChem co-founder and CEO Harshal Chokhawala said that “our approach allows brands to transition to sustainable solutions without compromising on cost or the performance that makes nylon 6,6 indispensable” in many “high-performance applications, from athletic apparel and footwear to automotive parts and industrial textiles”.
