Biotech pigment maker Octarine Bio secures new funding
Danish biotech company Octarine Bio has raised a further €5 million, bringing its total Series A funding round to €12.8. A new investor in the company includes DSM-Firmenich Ventures, a sign of possible applications in cosmetics, and continued support from former Novozymes executives, early day supporters of the start-up.

The new funds will “enable us to scale production of our first three flagship PurePalette colours, execute on commercial partnerships already in place, and expand product development of our safe and sustainable pigments into new industries,” commented Nethaji Gallage, CEO and co-founder of Octarine Bio.

Octarine Bio’s PurePalette is said to be the only fully biobased colour offering that can deliver the entire colour spectrum.
